A ki-rin (pronounced kee-reen), for those who were curious. This pic is scanned straight from a vintage AD&D "Monster Manual". The creature comes from Japanese mythology, and looks to me like a combination of dragon, lion, and unicorn. These rare creatures were super-intelligent, and highly capable in the mental and magical disciplines. Female ki-rin are never encountered, according to the MM. A D&D ki-rin
